TRADITION TO CONTEMPORARY ART

LILIAN VAN DER ZEE

She studied art and art-therapy in Holland. After graduating in 1973 she travelled and worked for 2 years in several countries.

Between 1975 and 1980 she worked as an arttherapist in a psychiatric hospital and in the children’s department of the antropological Tropical museum in Amsterdam.

During a travel through Turkey she met the potter Galip Körükçü who invited her to stay and help to decorate his pottery. Between 1980 and 1982 she worked and learned with Galip in Avanos as well as in Holland in the studio of ceramist Ina Bakker, from who she learned many other ways of looking to clay and art and learned different techniques of firing, glazing, kiln making.
